About Us
MEGA History
During the late 1990's NYSAC informed counties about deregulation of natural gas in New York State and the pending deregulation of electricity. In 1998, Tompkins and Tioga counties formed an energy alliance to take advantage of the deregulation of electricity. In 2000, Broome, Cortland, Schuyler, and Otsego counties joined the alliance, which reorganized as a non-profit, community-based local development corporation. Today, MEGA has 29 participating counties and continues to expand its membership and its buying power.
MEGA's Board of Directors and Staff
MEGA is governed by its 29 participating counties and an elected Board of Directors. The Board meets quarterly and conducts an annual meeting and election of officers in April of each year.
